Genesis, part III
Episode 03: "Genesis" (Part III)
�Us?� Brittany inquires. �We�re the task force?�
Sondra smiles, �Yes. The courage you showed leaving your school and entering the city to help others was remarkable.�
Eric�s eyebrow raises, �Wait, how did you...�
�As well as my telekinetic abilities, which I used to destroy the D-Tanks, I am also a telepath.�
Chris tries to get his head around all of this, �So, how exactly are we supposed to fight this empire? We�re not soldiers.�
Sondra turns to her assistant, �Dudley?�
Dudley nods, �I�m on it.� He walks over to the counter, grabs a rectangular box, and brings it to Sondra.
�Open it.� Sondra commands.
Dudley opens the box, and inside lies five pairs of metal bands, one shaped like a rectangle and with a similar �T� insignia as the one on Sondra�s suit, and the other smaller with a blue lens built in.
Sondra remarks, �These are the Hyper Speed morphers. Once placed on your wrists, you will use them to transform yourselves into the Hyper Speed Power Rangers, granting you increased strength, speed, agility, and hand-to-hand combat abilities. You will also have access to a vast arsenal of weapons and vehicles, some of which you will possess immediately, and others you will discover over time.�
Nick is puzzled, �So wait. We just wear these things, and we can...morph into superheroes?�
Sondra nods, �Yes.
�I don�t get it,� Brittany says, �Why us?�
�Young, ambitious, courageous,� Sondra answers, �You have everything it takes to serve this planet well.�
Dudley, who is back behind his control panels, shouts, �Sondra, I�ve got an energy reading. It�s Morlon.�
Sondra acknowledges this, �Then, you all have to hurry. Take your morphers.�
The five look at one another. The rectangular box staring at them. Their destinies in front of their eyes. They�re hesitant, but Traci reaches for a morpher.
�I�ll do anything to help protect this planet.� she says.
Nick takes a morpher, �The world needs a hero.�
Chris takes a morpher, �If it�s us...it�s us.�
Brittany takes a morpher, �This is pretty crazy, but I guess we don�t have much of a choice.�
However, Eric is still hesitant, �Are you kidding me?�
Everyone turns to him. Sondra looks at him, �Eric...�
Eric shakes his head, �We�re college students. We have jobs. We have lives. We�re not warriors. We�re not fighters.�
Traci looks Eric in his eyes, but it doesn�t seem to shake his stance.
Sondra puts her hands on Eric�s shoulders, �Eric, you have a destiny far greater than you can imagine. You�re meant for bigger things than merely acting on a stage. If you don�t join these four, the life you say you have will cease to exist.�
Eric sighs heavily, taking in her words. He takes a deep breath, and reaches for the last morpher, �Whatever. I�m in.�
Sondra smiles, �Good. Place the morphers on your wrist.�
They follow her command.
�To activate the morphing sequence, you use the command call: �Hyper Speed, Accelerate�, click the blue disc on your morpher, and the transformation begins.�
Sondra clenches her chest again, �Behind you are five teleporters. Step onto them, and they will take you where you need to go. Good luck...Rangers.�
The five nod, and make their way to the tubular shaped teleporters behind them. But as Chris begins to turn, Sondra stops him.
�Chris,� she steps close to him and in a low voice that only he can hear, �When we were faced in a dire situation back in the city, you carried yourself strong and fearless. There is such greatness in you. I want you to lead the rest of the team.�
Chris doesn�t know what to say, �I...but...�
Sondra smiles, her hand clenching tighter to her chest, �Don�t worry. I have faith in you. Now....go.�
Chris nods and enters his teleporter, and the five are beamed out of the Hyper Garage.

Back in the valley, General Morlon stands beside Xokan (the armored warrior), Sororix, and Graniton atop a hill, waiting for Sondra. And out of nowhere, a flash of light catches their attention below. And as the four look down, the five students are standing strong.
�Huh? And who might you be?� Morlon asks.
Chris grins, �The ones who are going to finish you off for good!�
Morlon laughs, �You? Don�t make me laugh, you pathetic children. What could you possibly do?�
Suddenly, an explosion of red light flashes near the students. The light moves towards the group, hovers around them, and sends bolts of energy around them, knocking them to the ground. The light floats back towards its point of origin, and begins taking shape. The light finally gives way to a large, round, deformed looking creature with a large striped tail.
�Bobis!� Xokan shouts, �He got through the portal as well?!�
The five pick themselves up from off the ground. Chris shouts to the team, �Enough�s enough! You guys ready?�
The others reply back, confidently, �Ready!�
And together, they all cry, �Hyper Speed, Accelerate!�
A flash of light blinds General Morlon and the others. Morlon exclaims, �What?!�
Eric morphs, �Black Hyper Speed Ranger!�
Traci morphs, �Pink Hyper Speed Ranger!�
Nick morphs, �Blue Hyper Speed Ranger!�
Brittany morphs, �Yellow Hyper Speed Ranger!�
And Chris morphs, �Red Hyper Speed Ranger!�
Morlon, Sororix, and Xokan stare in disbelief. �Impossible!� they all exclaim.
Chris, behind his red helmet, declares, �You will not take over this world!�
General Morlon exclaims back, �Is that so? Sororix, strike!�
Chris goes straight for General Morlon, but the powerful general thrusts his staff into Chris� chest, sending the Red Ranger flying. But Chris catches himself mid-air and lands atop a hill on his feet. Chris pulls out a blaster from his holster and fires at General Morlon, but Morlon deflects the shots with his staff.
At the bottom of a hill, Brittany exchanges blows with Xokan, but the Darrar warrior smacks her down to the ground. Brittany attempts to strike him with her sword, but Xokan merely grabs it with his left hand, unsheathes his sword with his right, and slashes Brittany across the chest. She falls down to the ground, and attempts to pick herself back up. But as she does, Bobis appears on her right side and blasts her with energy shots from a slingshot.
Twenty yards away from Brittany, Graniton sends a rock fist flying into Eric and Nick, sending the two to the ground. The other Rangers join them in an attempt to stop Graniton together, as General Morlon and the others back off, simply relying on Graniton to finish the job.
Chris exclaims, �If we�re going to do this we have to do this together....as a team.�
Suddenly, Chris can hear Dudley in his helmet, �Red Ranger, can you hear me?�
Chris replies, �Yes, I can.�
�Fire your blasters into the air all at the same time to form the Sphere Attack. It should be enough to take down that creature.�
�You got it.� Chris turns to others, �Guys, use your blasters in the air, and fire in the same direction.�
The five Rangers stand together, and pull out their blasters from their holsters.
General Morlon looks on from atop a hill and shouts, �Impressive! But this isn�t over Rangers! This world WILL be ours!� Morlon, Xokan, Sororix, and Bobis escape in a flash of light.

Moments later, the team finds themselves beamed back into the Hyper Garage, demorphed. Dudley walks over to them, �Great job, team.�
Traci sighs, �Yeah, but we let them go.�
Eric remarks, �And we got our tails handed to us.�
�You can�t feel bad about struggling in your first battle,� Dudley replies, �You guys beat Graniton and that�s all that matters right now.�
Nick looks around the control room, �Where�s Sondra?�
Dudley sighs heavily, �She...�
The five wait for an answer.
Dudley sighs again, �Come with me.�
The six enter a small, dark, cold room. And inside, they find a cryogenic chamber, and in it, Sondra.
�What happened?� Traci asks.
Dudley responds, �The pain was becoming too much. The only choice we had was to place her in this chamber. It�s the only thing that could keep her from...�
He doesn�t have to finish the sentence. They know what he will say.
Dudley continues, �Sondra was a noble woman. She fought to defend our worlds and never once gave up hope. And I�m hoping that you all will carry her spirit with you in battle. There�s a lot you all have to learn about being Power Rangers. And I�m going to do everything I can to help you. If we�re going to defeat the Darrar Empire, we�re going to have to do it together. As a team. As a family.�
The five nod their heads in agreement, and in the back of their minds they each mourn the fall of the woman that had saved their lives.
But the word �family� seems to ring in Chris� ear, �My mother!�
He turns to make his way to the teleporters, but Dudley stops him.
�Chris,� he says, �I know where she is.�
Chris turns, staring into Dudley�s eyes.

In Oson General Hospital, Chris makes his way through a chaotic hallway and towards room 89. He opens the door, and his mother is lying on the hospital bed, with a few cuts and bruises on her arms and head. She�s sleeping.
Chris sighs, and sits next to her bed. She opens her eyes, and sees him. �Hey, sweetheart.�
Chris� eyes widen, �Mom.� They hug.
�How are you?� he asks.
�Nothing serious,� she replies, �Doctor says I�ll be out soon. Just a few scrapes. Hit my head pretty good, though.�
�What happened?�
�I was in the bank, and I heard an explosion, and the next thing I knew, the roof began collapsing in. But...how did you find me?�
�It�s a long story. But the important thing is you�re alive.�
�Thank god.� she replies and smiles.
Chris smiles back.
His mother�s face then expresses inquisitiveness, �But how are you feeling? Are YOU okay?�
He holds her hand and smiles, �I�m...fine. Just fine.�
