Ashleys parents

Disclaimer: I only own Kiya, Ashleys parents (I dont remember the show ever mentioning or showing them) and the other kids. I do not own Oxford. I dont know who does. The ex-Rangers are property of Disney. For this story, Zhane is alive. Karone doesnt have quadruplets.

Summary: We meet Ashleys parents. Thats the entire plot.

Kiya went into Ashley and Andros white-walled, hardwood floored bedroom. It was a Saturday and Ashley had told her to wake Andros up. She had tried knocking, but it hadnt worked.

Dad? Dad, Mom told me to come and wake you up. You told Andrew that you and he would go to the ice cream store today, remember? Kiya tried shaking her fathers shoulder, but he just snored away.

Come on, Dad, wake up.

She went into the bathroom and got a wet cloth. She went back and touched it to her fathers forehead. Nothing. She kissed him. Nothing. He was warm. Did he have a fever? Kiya went and got the ear thermometer. She turned it on and stuck it in her fathers ear. When it beeped, she checked it. 99.2. It was low-grade, but was it enough to worry about? She went to get her mother.

Mom? Dad felt warm, so I took his temperature. Its 99.2. I know thats low-grade, but is it enough to worry about?

Good thinking, honey. But I dont think it is. No, it isnt. Have you been able to wake him up?

No, maam, not at all.

Ashley looked at the clock.

I have to get to Yoga class in an hour. Mom & Dad will be here in thirty minutes. Andros and Andrew need some father-son time, but so do he and Darnell.

Maybe Darnell can go with them.

Maybe. What did you try?

Knocking, kissing, shaking his shoulder, and a wet cloth.

Well, maybe I can get him up. Im already dressed. She was wearing a yellow body-suit, white shorts, green flip-flops, and a dark blue head band. She went to their room to try to rouse her husband.

Andros Alexander Vulcan, you know its time to get up and take Andrew and Darnell to the ice cream store.

Andros woke up.

I thought it was just Andrew.

You and Darnell need some father-son time, too.

Youre right. Well, are the boys ready?

Andrew is, but Darnell isnt. He doesnt know that he gets to go, too. Yet. Ill tell him.

Ashley went to her eldest sons room.

You want to go to the ice cream store with Andrew and Dad?

Alright!

Ill take that as a yes. Ashley said, laughing. She went back to her and Andros room.

Darnell is excited. Hell be ready in no time.

Alright. You have Yoga and your parents...

They were interrupted by the doorbell.

Are most likely here. Ashley said. They heard someone open the door.

Grandma! Grandpa! Hi!

Hello, Kiya, darling.

Anthony and Arianne Hammond stepped into the house. He was wearing khaki pants and a powder-blue Oxford shirt. She was wearing a red sun-dress.

Where are your parents?

Moms trying to get Dad out of bed.

Ashley walked down the hall as Andros went into the bathroom.

Hes up. Hes taking Darnell and Andrew to the ice cream store, so youll only have Kiya, Atarah, Alexander and Alexandria today.

Where are the little darlings? Arianne asked. Kiya went into the gray-walled, green carpeted living room.

Kiya knows. Theyre in the living room. Atarah is keeping an eye on the twins.

In the living room, Kiya picked up Alexander, who had been left in the play pen. She held him to her and smiled at him.

Good morning, Handsome. You look more like Dad every day.

Atarah hugged Alexandria.

And this one looks more like Mom everyday.

Kiya and Atarah sat on the floor playing with their youngest siblings. Arianne, Anthony, and Ashley walked in.

Oh, there are our babies. Arianne stooped and kissed Kiya and Atarah on their heads, and cooed over the twins, who were wearing matching short-sleeved onesies, with dark blue backgrounds covered in yellow ducks.

They are just adorable. And Alexandria looks just like you when you were a baby, Ashley.

They love their new suits. As soon as I brought them out of the closet, their little eyes lit up, and they cooed. It was so cute.

Ashley checked her watch.

Oh, Ive got to get going or Ill be late. The emergency numbers are on the fridge, Andros, Andrew, and Darnell should be back before I am, and I love you kids so much, bye!

Bye, Mom! Kiya and Atarah called as Ashley grabbed her keys and ran out the door.

I hope her bag is already in the car. Atarah said.

It is. I put it in there for her last night. Kiya said. Soon, Andros, Andrew, and Darnell came in.

Mom, Dad! So good to see you! Andros said, hugging his in-laws. He was wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt and white shorts.

Grandma! Granddad! Darnell and Andrew hugged their grandparents. Darnell wore blue jean shorts with a red shirt and Andrew was wearing dark blue shorts and a green short-sleeved shirt. They all wore white flip-flops.

Ashley did tell you that wed be at the ice cream store, right?

Yes, she did, son. She also said that you should be back before she is.

Well, Im not so sure about that. You see, were going out for some quality man time.

Oh. You be sure to stay on the right side of the law, now, you three.

Aw, Mom. You know I used to be an Astro Ranger.

I know. Ashley never does any wrong, and I expect you to steer your children in the right direction as well.

Of course, Mom. Well, well see you four later.

Andros, Darnell, and Andrew left.

Kiya was wearing blue jean shorts and a sky-blue shirt. Atarah was wearing white shorts and a pale yellow shirt.

Kiya handed Alexander to his grandmother. He was reaching for her and starting to fuss.

He wants his grandma to hold him.

Come here, big boy. Yes, Grandmas got you.

Kiya got up and went outside. She sat on the porch steps. A police car pulled into the driveway. Kiya craned her neck to see, and then stood up. Lt. Adam Park got out.

Just wanted to check on my favorite family. he called to her.

Hes allowed more than one favorite family. Kiya thought. She stood up.

Well, since youre an officer, Ill tell you. Moms at yoga, and Dad, Andrew, and Darnell are at the ice cream store. Grandma and Grandpa Hammond are baby-sitting.

He came up the front walk. Thank you. I remember when Karone and Zane were thinking of adopting you. I told you to keep on the right side of the law, and you did. Im proud of you.

Well, my cousins and parents are former Rangers.

Theyve done a good job of teaching all of you right from wrong.

Ive met you, Zack, or Mr. Taylor, as hes known at school, Kat, Kimberly, Dr. Oliver-you know him as Tommy, though- Billy, Cassie, TJ, Carlos, Jason, and Leo. I met him at the mall.

Not counting relatives, I see.

No, sir. Of course Ive met them. Considering how often theyll come over here.

Speaking of which... Adam looked to the front walk, where Karone was coming up.

Hey, Karone! How are Kelly, Kathy, Leland, Leonard, and Zane?

Everyones fine. Hows everyone here?

Just great.

Is Andy here?

No, maam. He, Andrew, and Darnell are at the ice cream store.

Oh. Father-son-son time?

Yes, maam. Its a good thing he didnt take Alexander. Then hed be too busy to pay attention to Andrew and Darnell.

True. He would be.

Kiya asked Do you two want to see Grandpa and Grandma Hammond?

Sure. Im finished with my beat.

Alright. Could I get a cup of sugar? Karone asked. She was carrying a sandwich bag.

Sure. She led them inside.

Grandma? Grandpa? Kiya asked.

Still in the living room, Kiya. Arianne called.

Kiya went to the living room, followed by Adam and Karone.

Grandma, Grandpa, Id like for you to meet Dads sister Karone, and Lt. Adam Parker.

Hello, Karone, Officer Parker. Anthony said, extending his hand.

Hello, Karone. Arianne extended her hand. Are you from the Kerova system, too?

Yes, maam.

So, Adam, youre a police officer, huh? Whats the worst case youve ever dealt with? Anthony asked.

The robbery of a liquor store. It was being robbed by a man with his three-month-old daughter in tow.

Three-month-old daughter?

Yes, sir. He was arrested and charged with robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and child endangerment.

How long is he in the clink for?

Three years. Maximum sentence, and very reliable witnesses, including the mayors secretary.

As well he should be, if not just for child endangerment. Clarissa said.

Well, of course you think so. Three children of our own. (Ashley, Jack, and Jane.)

And YOU dont think he should get three years just for child endangerment?

Of course I do, Anne. Its just that...maybe he was robbing the store FOR the child, you know, to get money, and he HAD to take her with him.

Oh, thats just like you to come up with an excuse for another man.

Now, Arianne Minster Hammond, you know I like seeing things my way. And my way happens to demand an explanation.

Your way, your way. Everyone has to have their own way Cant you just look at this the way the law does?

Maam, the law does look for a reason. We need to be able to tell you civilians, now.

So that it can be printed in the paper. He could have left the child with a neighbor, or with her mother.

Her mother died while giving birth, maam.

Well, I still dont think he should have taken her with him.

He shouldnt have. But he did. Thats why hes being charged with child endangerment.

Well, Im glad he was convicted. What about the child? Has she been put up for adoption?

Yes, maam. In the same orphanage Kiya was in, I believe.

So shes with kids her own age. Kiya said. Karone had gone into the kitchen. She came back with the sandwich bag full. Adam eyed it.

Lieutenant, you know its sugar.

I know. Its just that it looks so much like cocaine.

Ive never seen cocaine.

Well, Ill let you off this time. But if I see it again, Ill have to take you in.

Do you always just warn people if its their first offense? Arianne asked.

No, maam. Ill arrest them in a second. Its just as Karone says, I know it isnt cocaine.

And Zane would hurt you if he found out you arrested his wife.

True. He would.

Well, is anyone up for lunch? Anthony asked.

Its only ten, Granddad. Kiya said.

Anthony checked his watch.

So it is, so it is. How about a snack then?

Okay. Im sure Ashley doesnt mind us giving the twins a bottle.

They went into the kitchen, got some snacks, and ate. When they were through, Karone and Adam both had to leave. Nothing much happened that day. When Andros and his sons came home, Anthony and Arianne left.

P.S. Jane is one year older than Ashley. Jack is two years younger.

(A/N: I kept forgetting to add him when Kiya lists all the former Rangers shes met, you all know how they met.)

(A/N: I dont know much about law. I have no idea if three years is the maximum sentence for assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery, or if theres a sentence for child endangerment.)
